Terms of Service
DemoReel.mov is a place for film and TV production and post-production crews and the companies that hire them to show their work, find each other, hold and book dates, keep a record of each booking, exchange onboarding paperwork and make invoices. It is run by YRDZ LLC, 11400 West Olympic Blvd, Suite 200 PMB 2003, Los Angeles, CA 90064, USA (“we”, “us”). By creating an account you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.
We never collect or store tax or bank information
DemoReel.mov never asks for, collects or stores Social Security numbers, ITINs, EINs or any other tax ID, and never stores bank account, routing or card numbers.
- Invoices have blank boxes for your tax ID and bank account (routing and account number). You fill them in on your own computer after downloading the PDF, and you send the invoice yourself. What you type there never reaches us.
- Fields in the app refuse numbers that look like a tax ID or a bank account.
- Subscriptions are paid through Stripe. Your card goes to Stripe; we never see it.
1. Your account
- You must be at least 18. DemoReel.mov is for professional use.
- Use your real name and an email address you control. One person per personal account; don't share your login.
- You're responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at once if you think someone else got in.
- Company pages act for their company. Whoever creates one, invites teammates, books crew or signs paperwork for a company must be allowed to do so.
2. Plans and billing
- Free stays free. Pro (crew) and Business (companies) are paid subscriptions at the price shown on the Plan page before you pay, in US dollars, plus any tax that applies.
- Free trials don't need a card and don't turn into a paid plan on their own — when a trial ends you're back on Free unless you choose to subscribe. If you subscribe during a trial, the first charge comes when the trial ends.
- Sometimes we offer a lower price for a first period (for example, a first month for $1). The offer, its price, the price after it and when it ends are shown before you pay. After that first period the subscription renews at the normal price shown, until you cancel. We send a reminder at least 7 days before the first charge at the normal price.
- Before you pay you tick a box to agree to the subscription terms. We keep a record of that agreement (what was shown, the price, the date and time, and the device's IP address) and may share it with Stripe or your bank if a payment is disputed.
- Subscriptions renew automatically each month or year until you cancel. You can cancel online at any time in Plan → Manage billing; you keep the plan until the end of the period you paid for.
- Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
- We don't refund part-used periods, except where the law says we must. If you're a consumer in the EU or UK, you can cancel a new subscription within 14 days for a refund; by starting to use the paid features in that time you agree we may deduct the part already used.
- If we change a price, we'll tell you before your next renewal at the new price, so you can cancel first.
3. What you post
- You keep the rights to your profile, reels, films, posts, messages and documents. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, copy and show them to the people the app shows them to, only to run and improve DemoReel.mov. The licence ends when you delete them, except for copies other people need (for example a booking record) and backups that expire on their own.
- Only post work and credits you actually did. Credits and awards that name other people need their confirmation, and they can remove their name.
- Reels and films usually play from YouTube or Vimeo. Their own terms apply to what you upload there.
4. Copyright, confidentiality and NDAs
- Only share what you're allowed to share. Before you post a reel, film, clip, still or credit, make sure the owner (producer, studio, network, agency or client) allows you to show it publicly or to the people you share it with.
- Unreleased and confidential work. If you signed a non-disclosure or confidentiality agreement, or the project hasn't been released, you are responsible for following it. DemoReel.mov is not a party to your agreements with producers, studios or clients, doesn't check them, and is not responsible if you post something you weren't allowed to. You agree to cover our costs if a claim against us comes from content you posted in breach of such an agreement (see section 10).
- If you are the owner of work posted without permission, tell us (section 6) and we'll take it down.
- We respect copyright and follow the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Accounts that repeatedly post infringing material are closed.
5. What's not allowed
Don't post, share or send:
- Pornography or sexually explicit material, including in reels, films, posts, messages or files.
- Anything that sexualises minors. Zero tolerance: we remove it, close the account and report it to the authorities (in the US, to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children).
- Dangerous or shocking content: real violence or gore shown to shock, content that encourages self-harm, dangerous stunts or challenges, or that promotes terrorism or violent extremism. Fictional violence in film and TV work you made is fine when it's presented as professional work.
- Hate, harassment, threats, bullying, or discrimination against anyone.
- Other people's private information (addresses, phone numbers, IDs) without their permission.
- Social Security numbers, ITINs, tax IDs or bank details — anywhere in the app (see section 8).
- Spam, scams, fake profiles, impersonation, malware, scraping, or attempts to break into accounts or the service.
- Anything illegal where you or the people seeing it are.
We may remove content, limit features or close accounts that break these rules. When we do, we tell you what we did and why (unless the law or safety says we shouldn't), and you can reply to ask us to look again.
6. Reporting content and copyright notices
- Anyone can report content they believe is illegal or breaks these terms by writing to hello@demoreel.mov. Include the link, what's wrong, your name and email (you can leave your name out when reporting child abuse material), and a statement that you believe the report is accurate. We look at every report and tell you what we decided.
- Copyright (DMCA) notices go to our designated agent: YRDZ LLC, Copyright Agent, 11400 West Olympic Blvd, Suite 200 PMB 2003, Los Angeles, CA 90064, USA, hello@demoreel.mov. A notice must include your signature, the work you say is infringed, the link to the material, your contact details, a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorised, and a statement under penalty of perjury that the notice is accurate and you're the owner or allowed to act for the owner.
- If your content was removed and you believe it was a mistake, you can send a counter-notice to the same address with your name, address, phone, the removed material, a statement under penalty of perjury that it was removed by mistake, and your consent to the courts of your district (or, outside the US, any district where we can be found). We then may restore it after 10–14 business days unless the owner tells us they've gone to court.
- Authorities and users in the EU can also contact us at hello@demoreel.mov, in English.
7. Holds, bookings and records
- Holds, booking requests, answers, extensions and releases are agreements between the company and the crew member. DemoReel.mov records them; it is not a party to them and doesn't employ or place anyone.
- The booking record, deal memo and onboarding packet show what both sides agreed in the app. Companies remain responsible for their own hiring, payroll, tax, insurance and employment paperwork, and for checking anyone's right to work.
8. Invoices and payments between users
- DemoReel.mov never handles money between users. An invoice made in the app is paid directly by the company or client to the crew member, on the terms written on it.
- We never store Social Security numbers, ITINs, tax IDs or bank details. The invoice PDF has blank boxes for them that you fill in on your own computer; you send the invoice yourself. Fields in the app refuse numbers that look like them — please don't try to get around that, and don't send them in messages or files.
- Payment reminders and “friendly messages” only pass on what you choose to send. Whether and when you're paid is between you and your client.
9. Signatures
When you tick “I've read and agree” and type your name on a document in the app, that is your electronic signature on that document. We record your name, the date and time, your IP address and the exact document.
10. Responsibility
- We work hard to keep DemoReel.mov running and your data safe, but it's provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, as far as the law allows. Keep your own copies of anything important — you can download your data at any time.
- We're not responsible for what users post or agree with each other, for disputes between companies and crew, or for unpaid invoices.
- As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses (lost profits, lost work, lost data), and our total liability to you is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US$100.
- If someone makes a claim against us because of content you posted or a law or agreement (including an NDA) you broke, you agree to cover our reasonable costs and losses. This doesn't apply to consumers where the law doesn't allow it.
- Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law — for example for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or your mandatory rights as a consumer in the EU or UK.
11. Ending
- You can download your data and delete your account at any time in Account. What deleting removes and what stays (records the other side needs) is explained there and in the Privacy Policy.
- We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts others at risk, or that the law requires us to close. Where we can, we'll warn you first and give you time to download your data. If we close the whole service, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice.
12. Changes
We may change these terms as the service changes. If a change matters, we'll show the new version and ask you to agree again when you next log in; the version date is at the top of this page.
13. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, and disputes go to the state or federal courts in Los Angeles County, California. If you're a consumer living in the EU, the UK or another country whose law gives you the right, you also keep the protection of that law and can bring a claim in the courts where you live.
